The mission of The Chalice of Repose Project is to:
Lovingly care for the physical and spiritual needs of the dying with
prescriptive music;
Make patient-care services available to individuals and loved ones
during the weeks, days and hours leading up to and including the
moments of transitus;
Educate clinicians, care-givers, administrators, institutions, and
the general public about contemplative musicianship,
music-thanatology, monastic medicine, and the possibilities of a
blessed, peaceful or conscious death;
Model and integrate these contemplative values into daily life, work
environments, patient care programs, educational curricula, and all
work-related initiatives;

The mission of The Chalice of Repose Project takes place through:
The Vox Clamantis Institute and Clinic and the residential and outreach educational programs of the School of
Music-Thanatology and its faculty;
Creative collaborative relationships with colleagues, hospitals,
hospices and teaching institutions distinguished locally, nationally, and internationally in the arts and sciences of medicine, theology, music, and the humanities;
Scholarly/ clinical research and publication in the palliative and pastoral care arts, humanities and sciences;
The support of right livelihood and continuing spiritual and clinical growth, scholarship and artistry in the field.
