Linda Margaret Schneck, B.S. Ed., CM-T lives and works as
a music-thanatologist near Brattleboro, Vermont, and remains affiliated with the Chalice of Repose Project in
all national education and outreach endeavors. Her musical formation has included piano performance degree
studies with Alexander Fiorillio of Temple University, private piano study with Peter
Takács
of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and studies in harp, contemplative
musicianship and composition with Therese Schroeder-Sheker. She was certified as a
music-thanatologist in 1998, served on the faculty of the School of Music-Thanatology in the former Missoula
location for four years, teaching harp and serving as a clinical resident.
Eventually, she became a Clinical Supervisor and an important mentor for new student
interns. The clinical practice she recently established in New England is called
Viriditas, the name of which
echoes a theological and artistic theme first articulated by the 12th-century Benedictine
musician/visionary/ physician/abbess Hildegard of Bingen.
Viriditas is a term coined by Hildegard, and today, describes a perfect inner orientation for contemplative
musicianship: "The world is all verdant greening, all creativity

and this greening love
hastens to the aid of us all." Ms. Schneck is devoted to assisting others in the development of their unique
capacity to sound and resound within the self and the world. She is a bee-keeper, writes occasionally for
Zōē, the Chalice of Repose Project bi-monthly newsletter, composes new works for the harp, receives patients through
Viriditas and the Mount Ascutney Hospital Nursing Home, teaches harp locally, and remains an important Chalice of
Repose Project faculty member for institutes and the national certificate programs currently being developed
nationwide.
